Law Office of Maria Lowry Dedicated Houston Family Attorney

Houston Divorce Lawyer

The Law Office of Maria Lowry divorce lawyers provide legal advice and counsel in all matters related to divorce, including the initial order and the modification and enforcement of custody and support orders.  We tailor our services to address the needs of each client, helping to identify and achieve important goals during difficult times of transition.

We offer family law representation to clients throughout the Greater Houston area, including residents of Harris County, Fort Bend County, Montgomery County, Brazoria County, and Galveston County.

Divorce & Accompanying Issues

Our office assists clients in contested and uncontested divorce cases, handling matters through mediation and/or litigation depending on the needs of the particular client.  Regardless of the stage or circumstances of your divorce, we will strive to keep you focused on moving forward through the maze of financial, emotional, and practical decisions you are facing and on to a more positive future.

As a former teacher, Maria Lowry is especially attuned to the needs of children, and fully understands the concerns of divorcing parents when it comes to child support and custody arrangements.  We will make sure you consider the same factors as the court when making custody and support decisions, such as the developmental needs of your child, the ability of both parents to spend time with the child, and financial constraints, in order to develop workable and realistic custody and support solutions.

We also assist clients in property division, which involves the distribution of assets and debts acquired during a marriage, and spousal support arrangements, which may be necessary to cover the financial needs of one spouse during or after the divorce process.

Modifications

After your divorce is finalized, your divorce decree is meant to specify the terms of ongoing interactions with your former spouse, including arrangements for child custody, child support, and spousal support.  However, peoples’ lives inevitably change, and plans established at the time of divorce may not be feasible years later.  We help clients seek post-divorce modifications that reflect the changing needs of children and parents, such as relocation, remarriage, issues at school, and illness.

Enforcement

Orders, judgments, and decrees related to a divorce must be followed.  Unfortunately, people do not always abide by the terms of court orders.  When one party is not following a child custody, possession, or support order, the other party can go to court to enforce the order.  We represent people seeking to enforce child support or possession and access orders and those defending against enforcement actions.
